Add reconnect button with datasource type mysql

Hello,
we use RDM for some years now in our IT department and are very happy with it.
During the last year we worked more and more from home and connect via vpn to our datacenter.
Every time when a private internet line or the vpn client does a short reconnect, RDM looses it's connection to our mysql RDM database server.
Then you have to press cancel and restart the application or go offline, enter your password and then go online and enter your password.

Can you implement a "simple" reconnect button?
This would be very helpful and save a lot time!

Thank you
Jonas

Hello Jonas,

Thank you for the request. Unfortunately, a reconnect button is not as simple as it appears. The mechanics for it would be really complex.

I do notice you said you are using RDM 14 in your message, which is quite an old version. In our more recent versions of RDM like 2021.1, this workflow is much improved. What that means is that by pressing "cancel", it should put you back in the state you were previously in. Then, you'd be able to redo the same action you tried to do, and if the connection can be established at that time, it should work. It's like a "retry", but in two clicks instead of just one. Hopefully this can work for you.

Hi Hubert,

thank you for your reply.
We use RDM 2021.1.26.0, I did not update my profile signature.
Thank you for pointing me to this mechanism. That is fine for us.
