Taking documents into offline mode

Hi,

in our company we often work from our customer's place without a connection to our network. So we have to go into the offline mode quite a lot.
Now, we started to include a lot of documents we are using into RDM hoping that we could open and edit them while being offline. Unfortunately, I learned that this is not the case. Are you working on including this feature? We would not need to take all our documents from the data source at once into offline mode. But I was thinking that maybe one project or folder could be checked out before going offline and this one could be taken with me on my local laptop. When going online the next day, all the things I changed could be synchronized after I checked them in. This would be even better because while editing some documents my colleagues could not change things in the same document.
So, is there any plans on this topic?

Hello Joha,

Thank you for contacting us on that matter!

Since this is a feature request, I will move it to the feature request section of our forum and let our developers answer you.

Hello,

This is a great idea and we've had multiple users ask for this feature in the past. However, this is a lot more complicated than it appears and a lot of changes need to be done before we integrate this feature fully.

We will take your ideas into consideration and along with our own ideas try to come up with a solution as to integrate this into RDM.

This is a big feature and it will not be available in the near future but we will see what we can do to make this happen.

Hello,

thanks for your answer. I can see that this will be some major topic. Anyways, I'm glad that you are taking all these requests seriously!

What do you mean by saying near future? Is there any chance that this feature could be realized this year?

Best regards,

Hello,

We cannot provide an exact date as of now. We should have a meeting about this topic somewhere next week to try to figure out how we will proceed and see how we can incorporate this into our roadmap.

We will keep you updated whenever we release a new version of RDM containing the "Taking documents into offline mode" feature.

Hi,
I'm facing the same issue as joha.
Is there a place where can we view the planned Roadmap?
Cordially,

Hello,

Good news about the feature, it's currently available in our beta version. As with any beta, we strongly suggest you make a backup of your data before updating. You can view the changelist and download it here: https://forum.devolutions.net/topics/36090/remote-desktop-manager-20212-beta

The feature for using documents in offline mode is currently available for documents that are "stored in database". You will also need to mark the specified documents as available to be synchronized to the offline files. This option is inherited by default, so you could set an entire folder to be synchronized with one change, for example.

Let us know your feedback on the feature once you get to try it out!

Regards,

Hubert Mireault
