SQL Server Management Studio - Add "Find by name (User Vault)" option to "Run As Different User" when using "Integrated security"
0 vote
Hello,
can you please add the option "Find by name (User Vault)" to "Run As Different User" when using "Integrated security" in the SSMS-AddOn? Our IT administrators have custom entries in their user vault, one for their standard user and one for the user with elevated privileges. While RDM itself runs as standard user, some applications (like logging into a DB) require the elevated credentials. In order to use integraded security with SSMS it has to be run as the elevated user. This seems only possible with the option "Find by name (User Vault") which is selectable in the "general" credentials (on top of the dialog) but not in the "Run As Different User" options.
Or is there another way to use several personal credentials?
Kind regards,
Manuel
Hello Manuel,
Thank you for contacting us on that matter!
If you enter the credentials manually using the "Custom" credential mode, does it works without issues?
If so, adding the credential mode "Find by name (User Vault)" to the "Run As Different User" option of an SSMS entry could indeed be considered. Since this is a feature request, I will move your topic to the feature request section of our forum and open a ticket with our Engineering Department to see if this feature can be added.

Hello James,
yes, using the "Custom" option and entering the elevated credentials there works.
Thank you!

Hello Manuel,
I just wanted to let you know that the feature "Find by name (User Vault)" is now available:
To use this new feature, you will need to use RDM 2021.1.35.0. If you would like to update to this version, make sure to create a backup of your environment and then use the link below:
