Keeper OTP

We use Keeper and the integration is realy helping us.

We manage a lot of Microsoft systems and as such a lot of the accounts we use have requirements for MFA/OTP. It would be amazing if we could have the OTP feature included into Keeper and have to as a way to log into Microsoft Portals within RDM.

Cheers,
Ray

Hello Ray,

What version of RDM are you using? We should be supporting many different MFA methods in Keeper with RDM version 2021.1.20.0 which released this week.

Hi Hubert,

Currently we are testing the Beta, 2021.1.19.0 BETA. In 2021.1.18 there was a option to select OTP from Keeper, in .19 it disappeared so I wasn't sure if that was a mistaken feature that isn't available or something that is being worked on.

Hello Ray,

I see what you mean, in 2021.1.18.0 there was an issue where the "copy OTP" button showed no matter the credential type. It was only intended to show for entries that support OTPs, which Keeper isn't currently doing.

Since I understand what is lacking, I've opened a ticket to support using a Keeper entry as an OTP provider.

I don't know if you've had a chance to use the One Time Password entry in RDM, but we would make it act the same way. If that entry works for your scenario, then what I envision for Keeper as an OTP provider would end up working for you.

Thanks for that, it sounds like that would suit our needs well.

I haven't tried the RDM OTP, i'll give it a shot for now to see how it goes but all our credentials are in keeper with the OTP as well so it would certainly be beneficial to have that single source of truth.

Had a bit of a look and the inbuilt OTP doesn't look like it would work for Azure AD credentials, so having that ability would be amazing if it can be added to Keeper, I'd imagine it would be a useful feature for most credential managers.

What do you mean when you mean "work for Azure AD credentials"? I think this is the part of your scenario I may not understand, would it be possible for you to describe a step-by-step (with a screenshot or two) of where Keeper could come into your workflow?

Sorry, didn't explain that well did I!

I tried the RDM OTP feature and couldn't get that working for Azure AD MFA tokens. So I was unable to test the current inbuilt RDM OTP feature.

In saying that, it would still be more beneficial to be able to use Keeper as we have a few hundred MFA enabled accounts that would be good to simplify our experience.

Ideal state would be:
Open a link to Azure portal which pulls out the Username, Password and MFA code and logs us into the portal without any requirement to go outside RDM.

hope that makes more sense.

Hello Ray,

I think I understand what you mean, thank you for the explanation. So the goal would be to have one Keeper entry, and be able to get the stored username, password and MFA from Keeper with that one entry. You could then be able to use it within RDM when connecting to a web portal that requires these credentials, for example. Correct me if I'm wrong.

We looked into the Keeper API and it seems to be possible to get the OTP directly by calling their API. I've assigned a dev to the ticket, once we have an update on it, we'll update this thread.

That sounds perfect, thanks Hubert!

Hello,

We've implemented the View/Copy OTP feature internally. It will be available in version 2021.1.31.0.

Hey Jonathan, that's awesome news, can't wait to try it out!

The feature works really well, great help to reduce switching between Apps.

Is it possible to get the OTP as a variable and/or available on sessions that have the credential linked to them?

Thanks
Ray

Hello,

Sorry for the delay. For now, the OTP is only available through the View/Copy OTP directly on the credential, but we're in the process of making it work globally.

We'll let you know once we have an update.

Thanks Jonathon, great to hear it's on the roadmap!
