RDM versions 2020.3.25.0 and later all freeze on me if let idle forcing me to kill the task. 2020.3.23.0 has been fine so I currently use 2020.3.23.0. I will try to provide a list below of tabs that are open when this occurs.
(1-20) RDP sessions in their own tab group
(3) VMware Dashboard sessions in their own tab group
(8-10) Command-line sessions across 3 tab groups
(1-4) Secure Note sessions in their own tab group
(3) Chrome sessions, undocked, not visible in group tabs
(1) VMware Infrastructure VIC session, not visible in group tabs
I should mention that I have tried every version from 2020.3.25.0 through 2020.3.29.0 and experienced the same result requiring me to downgrade back down to 2020.3.23.0. FYI - I have not tried 2020.3.24.0. The freeze generally occurs overnight when I am not working but I have seen it mid-day a couple of times.
This occurrs on Windows 10 build 19041 and Server 2019 build 17763. I could probably set up a test environment if there's anything you'd like for me to try.
Thanks,
-Eric
Eric,
You mentioned, "2020.3.25.0 and later all freeze". I'm assuming that also includes v2020.3.29? If not can you give it a try. We made many freeze fixes in the .23 to .29 builds.
Also, could you please send us a mini-dump of RDM once it freezes?
1- Download Process Explorer here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/process-explorer
2- Run RDM
3- Wait for it to freeze
4- Start Process Explorer (procexp.exe)
*If RDM is running with elevated privilege, then you will need to start procexp elevated
5- Find RemoteDesktopManager.exe in the tree
6- Right-click > Create Dump > Create Minidump
7- Once you have the file we will send a ShareFile link for the upload
Best regards,
Stéfane Lavergne
Hi Stéfane,
Yes, same issue with 2020.3.29.0. I will wait for next hang on 2020.3.29.0 and will provide mini-dump.
Thanks,
-Eric
Okay, so I am an idiot. 2020.3.29.0 has been working on 3 different machines without freezing overnight for 2 straight nights. Sorry for the waste of time and space. I could have sworn.... I do have a legitimate VMware Dashboard issue, will post separately. :-)
-Eric
Eric,
No worries that's why we are here. Please keep us informed if ever you experience freezing again.
Best regards,
Stéfane Lavergne
