RDM client (even in 2020.3.29) trying to authenticate even when in Offline mode

Hi,

I have talked about this before and got some guidance to edit DVLS session timeout settings but I guess problem is in RDM.
We use Office365 (Azure AD authentication). In some cases of our workflow we need to connect with some VPN clients that break connection to our local network. In this cases we set RDM to Offline mode.
But I guess token expires after every hour (AdalLoggerBase.cs: 55.4072470216667 minutes left until token in cache expires). And when it expires it needs to be refreshed, it tries every 5 minutes... Which can result in:

Quite annoying, is there no setting that say, if O365 authentication doesn't succedd after 2-3 attempts, just give up untill online mode...

Hello,

Could you confirm your Remote Desktop Manager and DVLS version? We will have a look with the engineering department.

Hi,

RDM is 2020.3.29 (or 2020.2.19) and DVLS is 2020.2.10. But this "funcionallity" is around since... we changed authentication to AzureAD (at least that is when we started noticing it)... The problem is (my wild guess, I have not deepdived in how authentication works) when we connect computer to some client VPN (which we do quite often) that disallows "local network", when token expires, RDM tries to regenerate the token every 5 minutes and since we have 2FA, we get request to aprove the 2nd factor on our mobiles - but the token is useless since computer cannot reach the server... I hope I explained the scenario in an understandable way...

Best regards,
Rok

Hello,

I had another user with the same issue in Remote Desktop Manager 2020.3.29.0, which seems to be fixed in the Beta version of Remote Desktop Manager (2021.1).
I would wait for our official release of RDM + DVLS 2021 and then you will be able to schedule a session in order to perform your DVLS Upgrade.

Note : Do not upgrade to the Beta version of Remote Desktop Manager with your current DVLS version

Thank you for your answer.

We have a plan to upgrade DVLS to 2020.3.17 in some near future... It is not an urgent thing, but sometimes very annoying, if your phone rings every 5 minutes ;-)

Best regards,
Rok
