Azure SQL datasource goes offline from time to time.

I do not receive any warning message, the icon in the lower
right corner becomes orange.

Microsoft Azure SQL Databases can be temporarily "not available" for many reasons, most out of your control. With the Ping online method set to "Port scan" chances are we hitting the server at a time where the database is not responding, most likely a false negative but enough to set the data source offline.

I would suggest you set the Ping online method to None. As for Auto go offline, you set clear it or leave it as is. If ever the database is really not available (VPN or other reason) RDM will auto go offline on user action (refresh, save, edit) instead of prompting you with a message of the type "Problem encounter with the database, do you want to go offline? Yes/No". Having auto go offline is like answering Yes to the question.

I hope that clarifies the behavior for you.

Thanks.

I am trying to set the Ping online method to None and see how
it goes.
