Add option not available

Hello support,
I write here like suggested in the last webinar untill opening a ticket.
RDM version 20203.24.0 64bit
RDS version 2020.3.17.0
I have a problem with permissions, we select permissions of view, edit etc by user groups managed by AD joined to RDS.
This standard user is inside group RDM-modify-users wich is allowed to 'add' in permissions settings of the vault:

but if I try to add something the tab is inhibited:

while if I try the same in another folder (not the root folder) the tab works:

but the permissions in the subfolders (except some that are customized) are inherited from root:

So why is there this difference?

Looking forward to your reply.
Regards.
Giacomo.

Hello Giacomo,

Thank you for contacting us on that matter!

Would it be possible for you to go under Administration -> System Permissions -> Entries and make sure that the "Add in root" permission is set to "Default (Allowed)" or "Custom" and that your "User group" is assigned to this permission?

I suspect that this is the reason why your user is not authorized to create entries at the root level but can create entries in your sub-folders without issues.

Hello Giacomo,

Thank you for your quick reply!

Since the "Add in root" is set to allowed, would it be possible for you to make sure that the "Use legacy security" option found under Administration -> System Settings -> General is disabled?

Also, please make sure that the user you are currently connected as is not a "Read-only" user. This can be verified by going under Administration -> Users -> Select your user -> Edit -> General:

Hello James,
I've disabled 'Data Source Security / Use legacy Security".
Now it works, thank you!

What 'Use legacy security' exactly do?

Regards.
Giacomo.

Hello Giacomo,

Glad to see that it worked! The "Use Legacy Security" option enables a type of security that is now deprecated. That type of security has been replaced by the Role-Based Security System which gives you more granular control over your security. For more information about this, please refer to this link: https://help.remotedesktopmanager.com/securitysystem.htm
