Disable close button on the top right corner

Hi,

At work, I connect to a lot of servers via RDP on a daily basis. I would have the connections undocked across different monitors and sometimes I close the connections via the X button on the top right by accident. I usually switch between multiple applications and windows across 6 monitors and it is easy for me to click close on the wrong window/app.

My solution to this for most of the apps is to use an Autohotkey script that I wrote. It is similar to what this guy created here:

The problem is, none of the solutions I've tried works for RDM. I can't figure out a way to disable or hide the close button in a RDM window. I just want to grey out or disable the close button, so that it doesn't do anything.

Can this be implemented into RDM somehow?

Hello,

You can go in File > Options > User Interface > Tab Bar, and switch "close tab button" to "never":

This should hide the X button to close the tabs.

Thanks for the reply.

I've tried that option and it doesn't hide the close button if the connection is undocked, which I have mentioned is what I use most of the time.

Nothing for now but this is assigned to a dev. We'll try to squeeze it in for the 2021.1 release.

Thanks, will be great to see this implemented soon. If you're trying to close a program, it is very easy to close the undocked session instead, as the close buttons are very close to each other. Below is a screenshot showing Outlook running in an undocked RDP session.

Hello,

We've made the change internally by adding an option in File > Options > User Interface that you will need to check.

This will be available starting with RDM 2021.1.9.0.

When is 2021.1.9 releasing? I just saw that 2021.1.8 released 14 hours ago, so I'm guessing that the next version is still a while away....any chance I can get access to 2021.1.9 early?

We're planning to release 2021.1.9 as a beta version hopefully Friday. Our update cycle is longer when it comes to major version changes (2020.2 to 2020.3, or 2020.3 to 2021.1 for example) but for smaller releases we want to release faster so that our users don't have to wait so long for fixes and features.
