Dashboard View on Startup of RDM

How do you get the overview tab of the dashboard to stay at the size font you set it to? Every time I resize it and then launch RDM again it goes right back to where it was. I resize it by holding Ctrl while using the scroll wheel on my mouse. Is there a setting somewhere that locks it into place when I resize it?

Hello,
Thank you for your post. RDM does not save the zoom value in the dashboard. I will create a ticket for that.

Hello,

We've looked into this issue, and it turns out the zoom of the overview tab is already a setting that is saved and kept when restarting RDM. Could you please share with us which version of RDM you're currently using? It's possible an update might be all you need, however knowing your version number would help us might tell us if there's a specific issue occurring that prevents the setting from being saved.

Hello

I am using RDM V 2020.3.29.0 64-Bit. Every time I launch RDM I hold Ctrl while scrolling to make the Overview Tab (Dashboard Default) info and colored pie charts smaller but when I launch RDM again it doesn't stay at that size. So not sure if that's considered zooming or not but I just want to make the font and everything smaller. I also drag over the Actions section to make the dashboard tab wider but that doesn't stay either.

Thanks
Larry

Hello,

This is the scenario we were testing, but it's strange that it doesn't automatically save for you. We've asked our QA team to see if they can find the why of it.
As a note, this zoom level is related to the one Internet Explorer uses on your machine. It's possible we may not be able to force or get the zoom level easily. The .NET Web browser control is what we use for the dashboard, and it's tightly linked to the computer's IE, unfortunately.

As for the actions section, we've recently fixed an issue with it which happened most often when using a high-DPI display. That fix will be available with RDM 2021.1, so hopefully once it's available it'll fix that issue for you.

Hello,

We've been testing to try and figure out if there is a pattern to it, and we found that if you have a desktop scaling over 100%, it seems to cause the browser control not to save the zoom factor. Is this your case?

Thanks for the info. I will wait till a fix is pushed out. Appreciate the help and assistance!

As of now we don't have a fix for it since it seems to be related to how Internet Explorer handles the zoom. The dashboard overview uses the .NET WebBrowser control, which is linked to Internet Explorer quite tightly. We're still looking into finding a solution for it.

Hello,

I know this topic is pretty old but I'm having this problem too, after updating my RDM to version 2021.2.28.0.
Even if I try to set a different zoom level in the OVERVIEW tab, RDM always restores it to the "default", which is too small.
My display scaling is 100%.

I also tried to roll back to the previous version and remove and reinstall RDM.

Is there a way to solve this issue? Something in RDM's settings or on IE's?

@mattioli.gioele

I will investigate. The newest version of RDM (currently in beta) now uses Edge (embedded via the new WebView2 control) and I think we can support this.

I will keep you posted on what I find.

The next version (v2022.1.13) will save your zoom factor of the overview panel.

That is if you haven't changed the default value of File > Options > Advanced > Use embedded Microsoft Edge for overview panel.
