RDM prompts for My Personal Private Key Passphrase on RDM startup

The problem is that though the checkbox "Always prompt for passphrase" is purposely NOT checked, I do get a prompt everytime I start RDM.

Hello,

I was not able to reproduce your issue.

Have you tried to delete and recreate your key under My Account Settings -> My Personal Private Key ?

Best regards,

Hi Jeff,

Yes, I just tried that too. No success. RDM asks for the key's passphrase.

Hello,

You get this prompt when you launch an SSH session or when you simply want to see the private key?
If it's when you launch the SSH session, could you send your SSH logs and verbose? : https://kb.devolutions.net/rdm_send_ssh_logs.html
You can use the link in your Private Messages to send the results.

Hi Etienne,

Thanks for reaching out. Neither of those. The prompt comes up ONLY at the very beginning of each RDM start. Once, not more. Not when I start an SSH session, not when I want to see the private key.
To be exact:

  1. I start RDM with an elevated prompt in the name of my Domain Admin user
  2. I type the Google Authentication code to the 2FA prompt
  3. Then comes the "Enter the Private Key Password" window - when I supply my pwd it's not asked for until I restart RDM.

Do you still think I should send you SSH logs?

Hello,

Could you head over to Tools - Key Agent Manager and manually remove your Key(s). From there, close the Key agent and Restart Remote Desktop manager, do you still have the same behavior?

Hey there,

That seems to solve the problem, thank you! I just wonder why :)

Thank you so much,
