remote desktop scaling for high resolution displays ?

remote desktop scaling for high resolution displays ?

avatar

So I just installed the free version to do some testing, previously I used Remote Desktop Connection Manager. it works quite well but I noticed that one of the servers i connect to doesnt apply scaling to the remote session. I can connect to a couple of 2016 servers and scaling applies fine, but the 2012r2 server doesn't apply any scaling so everything on my surface pro is tiny. I couldn't find an option anywhere to apply the settings. I imported this configs from Remote Desktop Connection Manager which applied scaling to all three ?

am I missing something ?

Hello Gareth,

Can you try solutions 1 and 3 in this KB:
https://kb.devolutions.net/rdm_high_dpi_issue.html

While at the step 3, you can also set the screen sizing mode to Smart Reconnect.

OK, today I am plugged into two external displays that have more reasonable resolutions for their size but I could still tell things were not quite right, the 2016 servers looked ok but had a huge mouse pointer and the 2012r2 server was still tiny.

I did step 1 ( why was that disabled by default ? ) and this seemed to resolve the issues, will do further testing tonight when I am back off teh dock and just using the surface but looks promising and sounds like the sort of option I was looking for. thanks for your help.
