RDM rapidly flashing a connection error before crashing without giving an error for crash
So currently I have an end user that uses multiple RDM tabs to manage several different remote machines to carry out tasks, since the beginning of December they've been getting an issue every day or other day where their RDM will begin rapidly flashing between a black screen with a form of connection error and the current state of the remote machine, as can be seen in the attached video.
I've already had a quick look and cannot see any other posts about this so any help would be much appreciated.

Hello,
I remember seeing this type of issue a few months ago, but I cannot remember when exactly.
What version of RDM are you running?
What type of datasource are you using?
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
Hi,
We are using the most recent version of Enterprise, 2020.3.23.0
And we are using a SQL datasource
Hello,
I was expecting an older version than the latest one.
Could you try the following steps:
This will create you a new configuration folder for RDM.
Let me know if the issue still occurs.
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
Going to test this tomorrow then I will get back to you, thanks Jeff.
Jeff,
Fix hasn't worked on this occasion, any other suggestions?
Thanks
Evan
Hello,
If you connect yourself on his computer and start RDM, do you encounter the same issue?
I may suspect something with his Windows profile, but not 100% sure.
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
Hey Jeff,
I could attempt resetting the Windows profile, but two users are now experiencing the same issue, making it fairly unlikely its to do with Windows profile.
Thanks
Evan
Just to complicate things, this has also started happening for one of the users.
Any assistance would be much appreciated!
Hello,
The red x issue inside the UI is something that we have fixed longtime ago. Strange that this occurs on your workstation.
Close RDM and navigate to %localappdata%\Devolutions\RemoteDesktopManager and delete all the *.lyt files inside this folder.
Are you running RDM locally on your workstations or on a Terminal Server?
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
Hi, @evamwellard,
We have reproduced you're issue identically and are working on fixing it at the moment. In the meantime, I know It's hirritating but you will have to restart RDM once in a while until that fix goes in the next update. It is caused by the GDI object reaching 10000 with RDM. You can monitor this value in the "Details tab" of your windows task manager. You would have to add this column manually.
Sorry for this inconvenience, we'll update you when the fixed version will be available.
Best regards,
Alexandre Roy
Hi Alexandre,
This is great news, any timeframe when this update will be deployed?
Thanks
Evan
Hello,
Unfortunately, we don't have an ETA for now, since we are still looking into a solution.
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
No worries Jeff, thanks in advance.
Hello,
RDM 2020.3.26.0 has been released and this version should contain a fix regarding your issue.
Could you give it a try?
You can download this version here
