Hi everyone.
I'm trying to forward my WinKey commands to the remote computer. I've setted the option "Windows Key on Remote Computer" on the actions tab but still no success.
I'm running Desktop Manager Free version 2020.3.6.0
What can I do for this feature to start working?
Is it available on the free version?
Thanks!
Hello,
Thank you for contacting us on that matter!
Using RDM 2020.3.16.0, with the Windows key combinations set to "On the Remote Computer", I was able to use the Windows+Left/Right Arrow shortcuts to move the windows inside my RDP session.
That being said certain specific keyboard shortcuts cannot be sent to remote sessions at all, even with the Windows mstsc. For these keyboard shortcuts, we usually have alternative shortcuts that don't get intercepted by the local computer. For example, to send Ctrl+Atl+Del on an RDP session, you would need to use the alternative shortcut Shift+Ctrl+Del
What are the shortcuts you are trying to use on your remote computer?
Best regards,
Gabriel Degrandpré
Hi Gabriel, thanks for replying.
I tryed using the shortcut WindowsKey+E for example. Which opens the Windows Explorer. It doesn't work on Remote Desktop Manager but it works on the native mstsc RDP application.
I've updated the software to it latest version, but it still doesn't work.
Any tips on how to make it work?
Thanks
Hello,
ist the magnet icon in the bottom right en- or disabled?
Regards,
Min
Hello Destens, thanks for the interest, and sorry about the delay.
The magnet icon is enabled, and it still doesn't work. I also tryed disabling it, and still no success.
Any other tip?
Thanks!
Hello,
Just to verify a theory, could you please create a new session from scratch, also set to send keyboard shortcuts on the remote computer, and let me know if the issue occurs on this session as well?
Best regards,
Gabriel Degrandpré
Hi Gabriel!
I've created a new entry from scratch, and still can't forward WinKey commands to the remote desktop connected.
😢
Hello,
Thank you for your response. To be honest, I'm starting to wonder if there could be an incompatibility between something in your environment and the ActiveX used for embedded RDP connections.
In order to verify this theory, I have a test I'd like you to do with when you have some time, using RDC Manager, a different program that uses the same ActiveX for its embedded RDP sessions.
You can download the application RDC Manager from the following page
https://kb.devolutions.net/rdm_rdc_manager.html?q=embedded#description
Please try to recreate one of your sessions using RDC Manager and let us know if you have the same issue using it.
Best regards,
Gabriel Degrandpré
Hi all, I am having a similar issue with the "Enter" key. I can't forward "enter" keystrokes to the RDP sessions in RDM.
My current updated version is: 2020.3.21.0
This happened today right after I upgraded from 3.14, pi. :D
When i disabled the magnet grab key input, "enter" key worked well afterwards.
I tried the window key as per earlier comments mentioned issues with it, it seems none of the win keystrokes went through even with/without magnet grab.
OK silly solution, I have no idea why it worked this time, with magnet or without both had no difference following this step. Enter key and Window Keys worked when I did this:
Hello,
The engineering team is currently aware of the issue with the enter key and have a high priority ticket to implement a fix. In the meantime, you can either disable the magnet in the bottom right corner of the RDM application or downgrade to 2020.3.19.

Hello,
A fix was pushed this morning for the <Enter> issue. You can either install the latest version directly from RDM or download it from our website.
