If it's an advanced data source like SQL or Devolutions Password Server, please verify in Administration - System Settings - Password Validation.

I think this is wanted behaviour - the DPS admin (DPS version 2020.2.10.0) has activated the option you showed.

thus I suspect I cannot overwrite it with the setting in RDM (what is good!) .

so for me the issue is closed - no further investigations needed.
