Size of remote desktop

avatar

I have a 32:9 monitor with the resolution of 5120 by 1440.

When connecting to an RDP host in full screen, the monitor is not filled entirely. If I define the custom resolution of 5120 by 1440, the size of the remote desktop fills only a quarter of my monitor (screen size set to scroll bars and display set to external).

The only workarround to use the monitor in its full size is to set the display to external.

Hello,

We suspect a limitation with the Microsoft ActiveX that we use to open the RDP sessions in embedded mode inside RDM.

Do you encounter the same issue in RDC Manager from Microsoft?

Yes, I can confirm, that the issue in RDC Manager is similar.

Hello,

Thank you for confirming that the Microsoft ActiveX seems to be the issue here.

As a workaround, you can open the session in external mode or try to use the FreeRDP engine for this specific session.
To do so, edit your session, click on the Advanced tab and select RDP (FreeRDP 7.0) in the RDP version dropdown.

FreeRDP is even worse. The display is scrubled completely. The workarround with external works fine. Moreover, when using the client space it also works with higher resolutions. It's nearly full screen.

Hello,

In that case, indeed, launching the session in external mode will be the thing to do.

Thank you for your feedback.
