This feature is a nice one but sometime a little annoying. I requested this feature some time back but the implementation could be better. In our organisation some people need offline access to their vaults, mostly in service context where they are on-call every 6 weeks for one week (so the rotation is 6 weeks). In this case it is necesarry to have all vaults offline available. So in the beginning of the week when a person is on-call we refresh the vaults.
But with the feature as created by the RDM team every user of the datasource is "annoyed" every time with the do you want to refresh all vaults. So it would be nice to just add a button to achieve the same thing when necesarry.
Also i found the following issue, in our company we have multiple datasource. Some people have access to multiple datasource. In the current implementation you can only refresh the vaults of the datasource that is used at start up. So if i want to refresh the vaults on multiple datasources then i have to switch to that datasource, close the application and then restart the application. This I have to repeat for all the datasources. It is not a big hassle but could be fixed by supplying us with a button to press.
In any case thanks for all the amazing features
tom17,
Thank you for the feedback.
As you can recall this "feature" (if you want to call it that) was a patch until we can get a real background refresh working, where you could specify which data source/vault to always keep in sync. I'm still working on this, nonstop for over two months now. Unfortunately it won't make it into the v2020.3.x release (currently in beta). We are targeting this for the v2021.1.x release.
In the meantime, you could use the CTRL+SHIFT+refresh (button, top-left). This will trigger the refresh of every vault of the selected data source. It allows you to change from one data source to another and force a full refresh without having to close RDM.

Stéfane Laverge, thank you for your reply. I indeed remember that this was not easy to implement, but i don't really have a view into devolutions development pipeline. My apologies if I seem unhappy with what has been developped, this is certainly not the case.
Thank you for supplying the CTRL+SHIFT+refresh (button, top-left), this will keep certainly keep me satisfied until your development is finished. Thanks all the good work you are doing.
tom17,
No worries, I didn't read/interpret your first message as a rant but more as a follow-up or a touch base if you will. All is good, keep the feedback coming. :-)
P.S.: I'm really excited with these underlying rewrite/changes we are doing. It will open possibilities in RDM that were not possible before. Although at first glance, most users will not see a difference (no apparent UI changes).
