Dear all,
currently we are testing the Remote Desktop Manager and love it so far, but one thing is bothering us:
Is it possible to add Domain-Users even though the Server and the Database aren't part of our domain? Maybe with a specific account that acts as a link? Currently we can only add local Users/Groups.
So far i havent found anything in the forums but maybe you guys can give me an advice.
Thanks in advance and have a nice weekend.
Yes indeed, searching the forums with these common keywords return too many results.
Just to clarify, you want to use them to authenticate against your datasource or use these accounts to launch connections?
The latter is sometimes easy, but some security settings may make it harder (NLA and the likes)
Also, if its for authenticating to your datasource, which one are you using?
Best regards,
Maurice
Hi, thank you for your quick reply.
Our setup is that one: The server where RDM is installed on is outside of our domain (= not joined). The Database is a Microsoft SQL-Server Express, also located on the server.
If i want to add users, the GUI only gives me the option to search on the local computer. I want to have the AD-Users to launch connections, they dont need a connection to the database itself, just the program.
Edit: Sorry, i just saw that i wrote stupid stuff in this comment. Just to clarify: I want to implement the Active Directory into Usermanagement.
You simply need to set the domain credentials in the connections and they will be used. I don't see where you want add the users.
For some reason the chat doesn't appear on the forum, but you can visit https://devolutions.net/ and at the upper right you will see an orange button. Establish a chat with us and one of our agents may be able to offer a quick session to better guide you.
Best regards,

Dear all,
to set the account-credentials in the connections is no problem, that works perfectly.
What i want/need is to include the Active Directory accounts in the "User Management", so they dont need extra credentials when i deploy the program to my colleagues. Sadly i cant search through the domain when i tick "Integrated Security", since the server is not in the domain (i can only search for local users/groups). If I try to add the AD-username manually (e.g. MyDomain\Username), it gives me the following error:
The error-message makes sense since i dont have a connection to the Active Directory (Database is SQL Express on the local Server).
Edit: Sorry, i just saw that i wrote stupid stuff in the previous comment. Just to clarify: I want to implement the Active Directory (integrated Security) into Usermanagement without joining the domain with this server
