Hyper-V Consoles

avatar

Hello,

is it possible:
To select more than one virtual machine from Hyper-V Console (or otherwise) and open tabbed console sessions in RDM at once? (without having to click each VM, connect, next, connect...)
Much like going into Windows Hyper-V Manager, selecting multiple VMs, and right click connect.
Furthermore, is it possible to make RDM type in the credentials into that session?

Hello,

I am not quite sure if it is currently possible, I will look into it and keep you updated!

Hello,

Would you be able to send a quick recording of the behavior from the Console and the behavior from Remote Desktop Manager?
You can send the recording using the link I sent you in Private Message!

I have nothing on my business laptop that would record everything I do, except steps recorder that comes with Windows - however not sure if that helps at all. It's more a descriptive way, like this:
Open Hyper-V Manager, select one VM, press shift, and then select like any number of VMs (I have 9 that I always open all). Right mouse click "Connect", and they will all pop-up, one by one.
In RDM, Hyper-V Dashboard, I cannot use shift or control to select more VMs, thus I also cannot select connect for multiple VMs.
If that is not clear, if you want to look at the problem yourself, I would recommend we do a short teamviewer session, so I can show you what I mean.

Hello,

We've added this new feature (selecting multiple instances and launching them simultaneously) for the next version. Thanks for your input, this is indeed something that can be quite useful.

Wow, thanks!

And since you are on that topic, I have also been very bugged by the fact that I have to type in credentials each time.
I am aware that in the console I (or RDM) have to "type" stuff in, it's not RDP.
BUT: it would be very useful to have some kind of shortcut.
Like a single button, for which I could configure what to do, something like "admin - tab - password - enter", a macro if you will.
I am aware I can create a macro, but I am looking for a simple button that I could click on - maybe in the command menu of the hyper-v dashboards?
The thing is, I have lot of consoles I have to work with, and each stop I can shorten myself is couple of seconds saved. Especially when I start rebooting those servers...

Furthermore, could you also make double-click the VM in the Hyper-V Dashboard open the console, like it does in the real Hyper-V console? Currently it's not doing anything.

I see you implemented the new multi-select feature, thank you!

However (there is always a but, right? :) ), can you please set it so that machines open in the right order? Say I have SRV1, SRV2, SRV3... if I multiselect them, and say connect, they will appear as SRV3 SRV2 SRV1 in the tabs.

Thanks!

Hello,

Thanks for your suggestions, we've opened a feature request ticket for the following:

  • Add a way to have login macros in the Hyper-V dashboard
  • Add double click to open the console

And we've opened a bug report ticket for the following:

  • Open the machines in the listed order

Hello,

Thanks for bringing these ideas and issues to our attention. We've fixed the issue of the entries launching in the wrong order, this change should be available next version (if it isn't already). We'll keep you updated for the feature requests as they get handled.
