I am using a "File Explorer" session to open an UNC path to a server application's log files.
The folder opens in the file view (right hand side). I can open subfolders, return (back arrow) and go up to the parent (up arrow), and open files, all of that works.
But the navigation tree on the left just shows folders on my desktop (Recycle Bin, This PC, etc.).
It won't navigate to the remote server, which is in another domain, even when I paste a path into the address box.
This would be OK if I could just hide that navigation tree, but the "Hide navigation pane" checkbox on the session properties is disabled.
I can reduce its width to the minimum possible, but it won't remember that for the next session either.
The same for the "File view" dropdown, it is disabled and remains locked on 'Thumbnails".
I would prefer to have it on List or Details, so I don't have to change the view each time I open the folder.
Can these options be unlocked somewhere? I didn't find anything about file explorer in the global options.
Hello,
Thank you for contacting us on that matter!
What version of RDM are you on?
Also, would you be able to send us a screenshot of your entry's properties, with any sensitive information hidden? I would like to see if I can replicate the behavior you describe and how it could be rectified.
Best regards,
Gabriel Degrandpré
Hi,
I am running RDM version 2020.2.12.0 64 bit.
The server is on an internal domain so there was not really any sensitive information, but I hid the domain name anyway.
This is how it opens, I expanded the 'Network' node to show that the server isn't shown there (not abnormal, it is in another domain).
The content on the right _is_ from the correct location, and everything works as expected on that side.
Hello,
Thank you for your quick reply!
According to the information I have gathered on that matter, the "Hide navigation pane" is grayed out because of an issue in RDM 2020.2.12.
That being said, it has been fixed in the latest version of RDM. Would it be possible for you to try a portable version of 2020.2.19.0 and see if you are able to use this option?
To do so, you will need to do the following:
1- Download the .zip file below:
https://remotedesktopmanager.com/home/thankyou/rdmbin
2- Create a new folder on your Desktop
3- Extract the content of the .zip file into the folder created at #2
4- Go in this folder once the .zip file has been extracted and run remotedesktopmanager64.exe
5- Enter your current serial
6- Create a File Explorer entry and see if this option is still grayed out for you.
Best regards,
