Configure Monitor for Select Credentials Dialog

Configure Monitor for Select Credentials Dialog

Hi,

I'm using 3 monitors @work and RDM runs on Screen 2 and 3.

It is very annoying if I open sessions where I have to select credentials that the select credentials dialog always opens on primary monitor.

Can you please add a setting to change the monitor for this dialog?
i.e. Options->User Interface or Options->Types (where other settings for monitors reside)

I would like to have the dialog-window appear on "current monitor", but other people my like to have it on "primary monitor" or a specified monitor (1,2,3)

EDIT: this applies to other dialog-windows from RDM as well, i.e. EDIT. In contrast "View Password"-Dialog always opens on "current monitor"

Thanks,
.

Kind Regards
Markus

Hello Markus,

When you say RDM runs on Screen 2 and 3 you mean the application sits on screen 2 for example and your remote sessions opens on the third one but this credentials dialog always open on your primary screen?

I'm assuming your RDP sessions are opened externally and not undocked ?

Is this the correct scenario ?

I see now and I am able to reproduce your issue.

The same thing happen when you create a new entry.

I'll send this right away to the engineering department.

Thank you for reporting this Markus.

Hello Markus,

Once you move those prompt in another displa, it will keep It's position up until you change it drag it elsewhere.

It even still keep It's position after the application is restarted.

Since It's already implimented in a way, I want to confirm if this would be enough to fix your issue?

If this solutions is not working for you I'd like to know if It's caused by a bug.

Thank you.

Hi Alexandre,
it seems to work most times, but I have to do it for every new prompt.

Try it yourself: If you create a new entry for RDP and move the window to your designated screen, then create a new entry for SSH and so on....
every prompt opens on primary screen and you have to manually move every prompt at least one time to your designated screen.

Its annoying if you have to create, edit, select credential a lot

Hi Markus,

If I select "open with credentials" on an RDP session, then move that prompt to another window, then start an SSH entry the same way, the prompt are staying on the second screen.

Is it possible that you are unplugging some monitor during the day? which could lead to this prompt resetting position ?

If you are able to reproduce the issue most of the time, can you make a short video of it ? We might be missing something here.

Hi,
yes I'm working with my Notebook and always travelling to customers, working from home, working from office.
everywhere i have a different configuration of monitors and in docking station.
and I don't understand, why I should spend several minutes everyday shifting prompts.

A simple option would do: "Open prompts on current monitor" like it is already implemented in RDM for option "external monitor" and "undocked monitor".

BTW.: it doesn't only relate to password-prompt, it effects edit-prompt, batch-prompt, special-action-prompt, add-prompts (for every type in context-menu seperatly), clipboard-prompt, import-prompt, export-prompt, ... and I might have missed some more.

Kind Regards
Markus

Hello Markus,

I understand your scenario and why RDM's behavior currently isn't satisfactory. We've modified our original feature request ticket to reflect the information you've added in this thread. Thanks for the detailed explanation!
