RDM - 2020.2 SSH inventory

avatar

Every time I attempt to "Load from Inventory" on an SSH entry property page I get:
Status:Partial Success
Errors: 1
Tools: Error getting Bios information.

What credential is the attempting to leverage? The SSH credential from the General Section or the Current user credential of the RDM instance running (which does not match the ssh credential required to access the RHEL box)?

I can Load Inventory from the windows RDP session without issue.

Hello,

We use WMI request in order to pull the information for the Inventory, you can follow this help topic for WMI troubleshooting : https://help.remotedesktopmanager.com/troubleshooting_wmi.html

I guess I was referring to the the "Inventory reports can now be run on machines running a Linux operating system (SSH must be enabled on the Linux machine)." bullet point in the highlights of the Key New Features. Maybe I am missing something but I don't think WMI is involved in this case.

Hello,

In your session's properties, under Asset, you would need to specify the OS first and then make the Load from Inventory. Otherwise, RDM will try to make a Load from inventory using Window's process (WMI)

Still getting the same error. Do you know how it handles the SSH private key/Credential?

Hello,

We do not support/Handle PrivateKeys yet, but Credentials should work.

Hmmm.
I have tried:
Default, Credential Repository (Thycotic Secret Server), Private Vault search. All of these methods work with a SSH Session.

They all fail with the same error above. I have tried setting the OS to Linux and Linux(RedHat)

The server is running Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 7.7.

Hello,

Redhat in not yet supported for the inventory report, it is on the engineering department's to-do list!
