Search Shortcut Command does not bring RDM to the top

avatar

Hi!

I had the version 2020.1.20.0 and decied to upgrade to the new one 2020.2.15.0.

When i click on the icon of RDM on the tray it opens up but does not bring on top of all windows as it did before. It stays on the task bar and you have to click in order to get it in front.

The same happens with my shortcut Ctlr-R which i use for quick search.

undefined

I know press it, the RDM appears on the taskbar but not in front so you can begin to search. That was not the behaviour before. The windows came always in front of others (not stayed on top always) just got focus so you can select. To clarify, i'm not asking for it to be always on TOP just the bring on front and set focus after opening is gone.

Thank you.
Vassilis

Hi Hubert,

I can understand the summer, vacations, and pressure for other stuff but from previous experience with your excellent support i never had so much late feedback or at least a solid response.
And this little thing is getting very annoying as a bug, i cannot do my job without clicking and making more actions than needed (and it is not only the shortcut , as i said, is even on the tray bar clicking, it never got focus or bring to front, not top, front).

Can i please get a valid response.

Many Thanks.

Kind regards,
Vassilis

Hello Vassilis,

Sorry about the delay. I tried to reproduce your issue this morning. I wasn't able to reproduce the issue with the global shortcut for find. For me, it correctly brings up RDM and focuses. Can you confirm the issue is still there on RDM 2020.2.17.0 (latest version)? If you still reproduce the issue, it might be helpful to send me your .CFG file through private message (without sensitive data). Maybe it's a combination of options causing it.

As for the issue bringing up RDM when doing a left click in the tray, I can reproduce. I looked at the code and I'm not sure what's causing it, but I'm investigating right now.

I found a possible fix, with it I can't reproduce the tray icon issue. This will be available in RDM 2020.2.18.0 which should be releasing soon. If you're still able to reproduce the shortcut issue on RDM 2020.2.17.0, it's possible that this fix will fix that as well, since the change is in the restore mechanic.

Hubert,
For some reason i cannot reproduce the shortcut issue at the moment as well. I have a slight idea that it happens only when i am o RDP on my work computer from home and not directly from here. Can you please try that possibility ?

For the double click on tray as you said you found a possible fix.

So if i understood correctly i will wait for the .18.0 version.

But please check the RDP scenario.

Kind regards,
Vassilis

For the RDP scenario, do you mean that you RDP to a machine that has RDM, and then try to use the shortcut, and it doesn't bring RDM to the front? We'll test this case to see if we can reproduce. If I didn't understand right, a video might be helpful.

And yes, sorry for the confusion, I do mean that we have a fix that will be available in 2020.2.18.0.

I tested with the scenario I described with RDP on RDM 2020.2.17.0 but I'm not able to reproduce. Please let me know if you're also able to reproduce, when possible.

Yes, sorry for the confusion, RDP to a machine that has RDM installed and use it.

For you other message, i will wait for the .18 version, i don't like installing again and again :D (yes i'm weird)

Thanks Hubert!!!
