Hi,
So I am just getting started with RDM and setting up all my connects slowly.
I have added a connection to a Hyper V host and when I'm on site I can open a session and see all the virtual machines on that host.
If I go to a different site (school) I can still open connection to the hyper v host and do work there but it won't open a session and show the vm's.
Does a hyper v host session only work if you are connected to the actual network for that machine and not remotely per say?
Hopefully I explained my issue so it could be understood,
Hello,
Indeed, you would need to have access to the machine so that RDM can establish the connection, by using a VPN as example.
I think you will encounter the same issue outside RDM using Hyper-Vi directly since you don't have access to the network.

Ok - sounds like doing a session doesn't work how I thought it did. No worries. I can access the machine when I go to another school as it is one big network - ie I can remote into the hyper v host from another school and do work but RDM won't open the session so guessing a session connects differently. I do have a vpn to get to remote access into the server from home but again inside rdm a session won't work as guessing again it connects differently. I might just make any entry for each hyper v vitrual machine also and connect that way and forget sessions unless at that site.
Hello,
If you have access to the network and the Hyper-V is working as expected outside RDM, well, it should also work inside RDM.
In that case, do you have something relevant in Help -> Application Logs?
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
I'll post back some screenshots of what I'm seeing and if anything in application logs later.
Ok - it seems to being now - it just takes a longer time to show the sessions. I connected to my work vpn and went to sessions and left 5mins and then they showed up.
