Hi, I like to use the alternate hosts function in combination with autotyping into external application.
When I choose for "Prompt" then it asks me the alternate host first, then the application opens and then the typing macro (using $ALTERNATE_HOST$) is prompting the host again.
Does this works as designed or did I catch a bug?
I created a test for you.
STEP 1 - create something to autotype using the $ALTERNATE_HOST$ variable:
STEP 2 - Create object for Command Line and specify any external application
STEP 3 - Configure Alternat host to prompt
STEP 4 - Configure autotype after open
STEP 5 - Experience issue. After selecting the alternate host, the external application is opened and the autotype triggers the Alternate host prompt again
Attached, you will find my test setup.

Hello Dennis,
Thank you for contacting us on that matter and for providing us this setup!
That being said, would it be possible for you to go in the properties of your "Command Line (External Application)" and change the display mode from "External" to "Embedded" doing so on my end seems to have solved this.
Best regards,
James Lafleur

Thank you, that indeed is the solution for my test case. However, the real application which I'm trying to use is not able to load tabbed because it is not cmd.exe. If you want to know, it's Cisco ASDM-IDM Launcher started in javaw.exe. So I used cmd.exe to be sure that you would be able to test this.
Is there a reason that calling $ALTERNATE_HOST$ is not working when launching an external application?
Hello Dennis,
Thank you for your quick reply!
Since I have been able to reproduce this issue in External mode, I will open a ticket with our Engineering Department and get back to you as soon as I will have more details on that matter.
Best regards,
James Lafleur
Hello Dennis,
I just wanted to let you know, that our Engineering Department has solved this issue internally.
The fix should be available in the next version of RDM.
Best regards,
James Lafleur
Thanks a lot. I'm happy this has been fixed, so I can use one single application and autotype the host from alternate host list, username and password.
Keep up the good work!
