I've installed the newest RDM client and am trying to connect to an existing data source. When I do I'm prompted to upgrade the database. I haven't got the admin rights to do this. Our guy with the admin rights downloaded and installed the newest client and was able to connect to the datastore without being prompted to upgrade the database, and in the datastore configuration box, under the upgrade tab, the update database button is greyed out.
How do we upgrade the database, or how can I connect to the datastore?
Hello,
To upgrade the SQL database, when connected with enough privileges, please go in File - Data Sources - Upgrade, then click on the Update database button.

Odd, I think you just uncovered a bug. I was able to reproduce. Open RDM with non-admin, select different data source that is admin, upgrade the database, go back to non-admin data source. Still prompting for the upgrade.
For a workaround, with the non-admin user when prompted to upgrade hit cancel, the data source will go "not connected". While pressing the CTRL key, press the refresh icon (top left double-circle-arrow), cancel the upgrade again. Close RDM and reopen, the data source should connect.
I will log a bug report to get this fixed.

Thanks Stefane,
I've just tried that, but after closing and reopening RDM I'm still prompted for the database upgrade and can't connect
Please try this.
Did that work?
Stéfane Lavergne
No, still prompted for upgrade
Are you sure you are on the same database as your admin? Both are running the same version?
As for the grayed out Upgrade button, you must first edit the data source to enable the button.
Stéfane Lavergne
yes and yes. i'll ask him to edit the data source
Problem resolved when admin came on site and overrode credentials
Thank you for the update. We will still investigate the issue. This behavior is not normal.
