Clipboard - copy does not work if Edit permissions are not assigned to user
Hi,
When setting the Edit permissions of a folder so a role or user cannot edit the contents of that folder, it is also not possible to use the Clipboard > Copy function, even though the user can use Export enabled on its user. If I set the Edit permission to allowed for that user, the copy function becomes available.
We want to use this function where users are allowed to copy the contents of an entire folder to a new folder (duplicate does not work in that case) but are not allowed to make any changes to the original.
I would expect that the Clipboard > Copy function would fall under the View permission, and I know from the manual that Clipboard > copy is linked to the Export permission (which is assigned to the user). Would it be possible to correct this behaviour?
Thanks. Best regards,
Jelle Hillen
Hello,
This possibility seems to be a complex thing to implement and have an impact on the ability to view all properties of entries. After a discussion with an engineer, we could add a specific permission to grant the privilege to copy entries.
What do you think about adding the Copy permission?

What do you think about adding the Copy permission?
Hello,
That would definitely be okay, and I think it could be useful to separate copy and export permissions.
Do you have an idea when this will be implemented?

Hello,
We will try to add this in RDM 2020.3. This version is planned for the fall.

Hello,
That would be great. In the meantime, we'll see about a workaround for ourselves. Thanks.
