iLO Web session not compatible with newer versions of iLO4
I just upgraded iLO 4 to the latest available version (February 2020), the RDM integrated session no longer works properly. Specifically, half of the menu entries are not shown. If I visit the page in a regular Firefox session, everything works fine.
I anyway wonder what's the purpose of this entry type. Isn't this just a regular browser session with another name? If yes, I suggest you get rid of it, if no, please elaborate and make it compatible with current versions of iLO4.
Thanks,
Viktor
Hello,
Thank you for contacting us on that matter!
That being said, would it be possible for you to create a Web Browser entry with "Chrome" configured as its browser and then launch it in embedded mode and see if the same issue occur?
As for the HP iLO entry, could you please provide us screenshots of what you are referring to?
Best regards,

Hi James,
Everything works fine with a Chrome browser entry. Here you see the menu list as it should look like.
If I use the iLO specific RDM entry, here's what I get instead:
Hello VT,
Thank you for your quick reply!
I contacted our Engineering Department on that matter and they told me that the behavior is different between the HP iLO entry type and the Web Browser entry type because iLO is using IE in the backend. With that said, they will see if it is possible to move to Chrome instead.
In the meantime, we recommend to use the Web Browser entry type (set as Google Chrome) as a workaround.

Hi James,
Keep in mind that older versions of iLO (even older builds of newer versions such as iLO4) work best with Internet Explorer while newer versions require a modern browser. That's why I'm not sure how sensible it is to even keep this session type in the mix if it offers no other benefits whatsoever in comparison to a regular web browser session.
Best regards,
Viktor
