Forticlient - any chance to get the add-on working with the free VPN client?
I just tried to connect to a Forticlient VPN using the respective add-on, unsuccessfully so.
According to your help site, it should be sufficient to rename the FortiClient.exe to FortiSSLVPNClient.exe and it should work. Unfortunately, I can't seem confirm this, nothing at all happens when I try to connect.
There have been other messages in the forum, though older, that all seem to say that one either needs to use an old (=<5.4) version of Fortinet, or a special version that only paid Fortinet customers have access to to get the command line features which RDM needs.
So, is the renaming bit still supposed to work with current versions of Forticlient? If not, you may want to update your help page on this. And I assume that in this case, Fortinet simply cannot be started from RDM for people who are not customers of Fortinet.
Hi,
I read the help topic and I see the confusion, we talked about the version FortiClient 5.2.1 which is very old. I will try to clarify everything. We have two different integration in RDM for Fortinet.
First we have FortiClient which is supported with version 5.4 and prior. The reason is that FortiClient (these versions) have CLI command to open and close VPNs. After this version Fortinet add many security level as an antivirus and more. They also removed the CLI.
Now users have to use FortiSSL, which needs to be downloaded directly from FortiNet support web site. Base on customer information, FortiSSL is only available to paid users of Fortinet.
Regarding the help topic, I will have a talk with my colleague this afternoon to update and clarify it.
Best regards,
