Serial Connections via USB-C

avatar

I am switching from Windows to Mac and have picked up a USB-C serial adapter.
I am trying to figure out on Mac how to create a serial connection.
I have the console of firewalls, switches, and other things needing a serial connection.
After much googling I sort of found iterm, but it is deprecated.

Is there a document somewhere that will give me a rundown on using a USB-C serial adapter on macOS Catalina with RemoteDesktop Manager?

Thanks,

Hello,

Not sure that we have such kind of feature in RDM Mac.

I would need to verify with our engineering department and get back to you.

Okay, so it wasn't just something that I missed?
It is available on the PC version, and I used that quite a bit, but I'm having trouble finding it on Mac.
I was able to get iTerm to work and I could talk to the serial port and I was able to do some cli on my firewall and switch.

Indeed, it's something that is missing on RDM Mac.

Hi,

RDM and RDM Free 2020.3.1.0 that just released now supports the Serial Port entry. Please, do tell us if you find any issues.

Hi agrimgrover,
I need to know if you are running on an intel mac or an arm mac, your serial adapter is a usb-c or standard usb. This can help us to reproduce your problem.
Thank you.

Hi Agrimgrover,
I noted that your RDM parity setting is set on default. Did you try to set it explicitly to NONE? May be your default are not good.
I'm trying to reproduce your problem but until now I was unable to replicated it unfortunatly. If you try my suggestion let me know if that solved the problem or not.
Best regards,
Luc

Hi Luc,
Good morning! Apologies for late response. I have tried RDM parity = None and default both, but still getting the crapy response, I have also tried various encoding like UTF-8, ASCII, etc.
Please find the attached version of RDM I am using for M1, I tried to upload the DMG but facing issue.
Please try to use Dmg Devolutions.RemoteDesktopManager.Free.Mac.2022.2.12.0.dmg, As unable to find the different DMG for M1
