Is it not possible to create sub connections in the free version of RDM? I never get asked if I want to create a sub connection and can't edit the new connections' parent, either. I'm trying to find an easy way to add an SCP connection to an SSH session without having to re-enter all the data.
Many thanks for your help!
Hello,
Instead of creating another entry with the same information to authenticate using another remote tool, I would recommend creating a template instead.
This will also allow you to have less sessions in your database.
For more information's, please consult https://help.remotedesktopmanager.com/kb_launchtemplate.htm

Thank you, that works pretty well. Now I need to figure out how to add the launch of the template to the "Actions" of that entry because currently I only have it available via context menu.
Hello Carsten,
to achieve this you've to enable in File => Options => User Interface => Dashboard the setting Allow special open actions in Dashboard

Oh yes, that's very nice. Thank you, too!
Hi there, I would like to come back to the basic question....
I have created a data-source connections.xml on my dropbox (using the local folder, not online connection),
and I organized my private entrys at work (using the Enterprise Edition).
There are now MANY subconnections like:
My Credit Institute
|___ Account number
|___SWIFT-Code
|___Credit Card
and so on.
At home, having the FREE edition of RDM, the subconnections are there, but I cannot edit them or add a new one...
That's pretty disappointing, as nowhere is said that the free edition does not support sub-connections.
Any idea how I can make this work for me ?
Kind regards,
Sascha
@heilmann,
As of now, the sub-connections are not supported in RDM Free.
However, I opened a ticket to our engineering department so that they can be added into RDM Free.
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
I am very happy about this. Thank you.
I am very happy to hear that, too.
Excellent support :)
Hello,
Sub-connections will be supported in RDM free in the next release. You will find the option in File -> Options -> Advanced.

Thank you very much!
