Logging back into RDM and online backups

Logging back into RDM and online backups

Not sure when this started but has been present for several versions. Presently using 2019.1.41.0.

When RDM idles, or times out, it disconnects from the datasource and requires re-entering credentials to re-connect, by clicking the orange globe. This part works fine. However, after signing in, I noticed the backup feature is still disconnected and requires logging into that separately as well. Is this by design? It has an 'x' over it until I sign back in, even after signing back into the datasource.

Hello Martin,

What type of data source are you using? Is it a Devolutions Online Database?
Is the authentication prompt is Devolutions login prompt?

Best regards,

This is a Devolutions Online Drive database. The prompt is the standard Devolutions login prompt.

Hello,

Would it be possible for you to go under File -> Data Sources -> Select your DOD Data source -> Edit and uncheck "Prompt for credentials" ?
I suspect that doing so will might prevent this from occurring.

In the meantime, I will attempt to reproduce this issue on my end as well.

That option was already unchecked.

Hello,

Thank you for your quick reply!

Would it be possible for you to provide me a screenshot of your File -> Devolutions Account section?
This screenshot can be sent to me via private message.

Thank you! I just received it.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to reproduce this issue using the information you have provided us.
That said, I just want to confirm that our Data Source has the same configuration as well.

Would it be possible for you to provide screenshots of your Data Source configuration? I would like to see every tabs under File -> Data Source.
These screenshots can also be sent to me via private message.

Hello,

Sadly I was still unable to reproduce this.

That said, I suspect that this issue might be related to the "Allow Offline mode" option being checked under the Advanced tab of your Data Source.
Would it be possible for you to uncheck it and see if this behavior persist?

Best regards,

James Lafleur

Sure, I've made the change and will monitor.

Now it doesn't log off at all - which is fine....but kinda strange. The backup is no longer being disconnected either. The 2FA requirement also disappeared. Maybe this option below? Strangely, when I went to take the screenshot, the login window popped up and required me to sign in, despite being already connected to the database.

Hello,

Both locations are not related, which means that you can be connected to your Data Source using 1 Devolutions Cloud Account and be signed in with another account under File -> Devolutions Account.

In that case I'm not sure why it stopped logging me out of the data source or why 2FA options no longer appear.

Hello,

To log yourself out of the Data Source, you would need to check "Prompt For Credentials" under File -> Data Sources.

I'm not trying to log myself out. Previously, the connection logged out automatically based on some criteria like idle time, or similar. It no longer does that. Even overnight it stayed connected.

Hello,

In order to reproduce this behavior on your end, you would need to do the following:

1- Make sure that the option "Prompt for Credential" is checked under File -> Data Sources
2- Under File -> Options -> Security -> Lock section -> configure when your application will lock

Now, if for example you chose the "Lock on Idle" option, RDM will lock itself after X time and when you decide to unlock it, you will be prompted for the credentials of your DOD Data Source.

Best regards,

James Lafleur

Thank you for that detail.
