Mapping Icons

avatar

Hello,

In regards to your Theme System, instead of loading custom icon files from disk, or selecting from your custom icon library - is it possible instead to "map" an existing item's icon to another item to replace the default icon for that item,

e.g. if I wanted to create a new Folder entry for a Patch Panel and wanted to use your"Microsoft RDS Server(Terminal Server)" session icon for that, currently I cannot see how I could select/map that icon?

Thanks,

Hello,

Not sure to understand your request exactly. Could you elaborate please?
Maybe some screenshots could help as well.

For any new entry, e.g a folder, I can use the default icon or choose one from your icon library, but I can't choose one of your other internal icons from your other categories, e.g. VPN, Macro/Script/Tool, etc. I suppose I can use external icons to replace the folder icons, but I was trying to avoid that due to possible performance/reliabilty problems when logging in to RDM on my Mac or PC. I would prefer instead to be able to select/map internal icons from your other categories, to use for new folders as that is often good enough. One example is that your"Microsoft RDS Server(Terminal Server)" session icon looks a bit like a computer "Patch Panel", so I was going to use that to create a Patch Panel folder in RDM.

Hello,
We plan to eventually add a way to save your own custom icons (svg if possible) into the database and create a image library. From this list you will be able to map an entry or folder. Do you think it could help?

I suppose that would be a good enough way to do that, when do you think that would be implemented, thanks?

I hope to have this for RDM 2019.2 later after the summer.
