Using AD Group Roles for Repositories

Using AD Group Roles for Repositories

avatar

Hello all,

I currently have my RDM/DPS instance stood up with Multiple AD Groups in the "Roles" section. I'm experiencing an issue though where when I grant a Role access to a Repo, the users that are apart of that Role "AD Group" do not see the Repo I assigned to them. If I manually give their account access to the Repo they can see it.

DPS/DVLS Verison: 6.1.3.0 Instances are also at 6.1.3.0
RDM Version: 14.1.3 64-Bit

Thanks,

Hello,

I am unable to reproduce that issue internally.

I have few questions to ask to understand and troubleshoot your issue.

- Could you please send me a screen shot of the Permissions tab of the Root properties of that repository?

- Could please check in the DPS logs if there is any relevant error messages? He is how you can View Logs.

- Do they have access to only one repository or multiple repositories?

Best regards,

Below is the requested information.

Nothing in the DPS logs that shows any errors, since they don’t see the Repo in the drop down they never try to connect. Also, the group itself is given access to only the one Repo, their account is given access to the default location and one other Repo directly (This was for testing purposes, would like for everything to go by AD groups.).

Thanks,

Hello,

When connected with a user that belongs to the Active Directory group, could you please go in File - My Data Source Information and check if the AD Group is listed in the Roles tab of that report? Do you see that AD group in the list?

We tried in three different environments here and still unable to reproduce the issue. We could check what is happening during a remote session and verify your settings to troubleshoot this behavior. Please send an email to ticket@devolutions.net and we will send you our online calendar to book an appointment.

Hello,

@everyone, the issue was related to the usage of AD Distribution groups. DPS only supports usage of AD Security groups.
