How to setup a shared database, but different credentials on RDM?

Hi,

We are 3 admins that connect to the same SQL database via RDM. We log on RDM with active directory credentials, but we use other credentials for RDM than for logging locally to avoid that a compromised normal user password can be used to open RDM and access all servers as administrator.

Until now we have all used a generic admin account saved as default credentials, but we change that now. Each user has his own admin account, and I would like to set the credentials on some of the folders to use these settings. So I want "ADM-USER1" to connect to servers using "ADM-USER1" as credentials, and "ADM-USER2" to use "ADM-USER2" as credentials etc...

Can I set that up centrally, or do I have to use "Override credentials" on each client installation?

Best regards
Kenneth Jensen

Hello,

You have 2 choices here :

1. You and you colleagues select the sessions you want to modify, make a right-click -> Edit -> Batch Edit -> Edit Entries (User Specific Settings) and then override the credentials to set it directly there.

2. Do the same process (Edit -> Batch Edit -> Edit Entries (User Specific Settings)) but instead of setting the credential directly on the session, you can have it linked to a credentials entry that you created in your Private Vault

Both these option could work in your case. Let me know if this is what you were looking for!
