Ability to open multipleedit session windows

I was wondering if it would be possible to make it so that I can have multiple edit windows open .

In some cases I need to compare another session to the one I am setting up. Currently if I start to created a new one, I am unable to do anything until I close it. This means that if I need to compare the setting of one session to another I can't without taking a screen capture
