Hi,
First time poster, so please be kind ;)
I would like to know the best way for me to import a RDP connection / RDP details to my Remote Desktop Manager.
I have all the details stored in another platform per company requirements, but I want to be able to export these details in a format, so that I can import a connection into my Remote Desktop Manager without having to type in the password. Is that possible?
Looking at the rdm file structure, I can see that there is a "SafePassord" tag. I expect this to encrypted in some fashion and with at key that you can't share with the public.
I don't have any other devolutions products but Remote Desktop Manager, so I need to understand if it is possible for me to import rdp connection file containing the password. I could live with the option that I import the username and password first from a file, giving them a unique name in the file and reference that name in the rdp details file - but that would be my second choice if I had to pick.
I hope someone can share some details with to understand what is possible and what is not.
Hello,
If you have .rdp files on your workstations, you can import them directly in RDM by going in File -> Import -> RDP Configuration (.rdp).
If you have your sessions into a CSV file, I would suggest consulting this help article to properly configure your CSV file and import it via a RDP template previously created - https://help.remotedesktopmanager.com/importcsv_strategies.htm

Hi Jeff,
Thanks for getting back to me 😀
I know about importing rdp files, but I don't see that as an option when I want to have the password imported also.
Reading the link you shared, it states that it can read passwords in using the CSV import. Is that the only import option that can handle passwords while importing the server details? Or could I use the same password tag for the RDM file (XML) and it would work? 🤔
Hello,
If you want to import the passwords, indeed, the CSV would be the proper method, because of the password encryption.
With the proper columns in the CSV file, all the information's would be imported properly.
