I'm using the enterprise version of RDM. My laptop has a native resolution of 3840x2160, so when I initiate an rdp session, the screen is so small that I can't read anything. I can adjust the resolution desired in RDM, but that just leaves me with an extremely small window, with extremely small text and icons in them middle of my desktop.
In Microsoft's remote desktop client, there is an option to "zoom" by percentage. I have not been able to find the equivalent in RDM. Can anyone assist?
Thank you!
Hello,
It's possible that your issue is related to HDPI settings.
Below is a link to an article from our online help with methods to resolve the problem.
https://help.remotedesktopmanager.com/troubleshooting_hdpiscalingissues.htm
If the issue persists afterward, don't hesitate to let us know.

I also would like to have the zoom option in Embedded (tabbed) RDP.
I can only change the zoom value on the external option.
Thanks,
Pedro
@pmneveshi5,
What version of RDM are you running?
What do you mean by zoom value exactly? Could you send us a screenshot or a small video of the issue please?
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
version 2020.3.27.0
Bellow I send a screen shot of what I mean.
It would be nice to :
Thanks
Hello,
I will be completely transparent on this one. We haven't found a way to do that with the RDP ActiveX that we use. I'm pretty sure that there is a way to do that but for now I can find a workaround. I promise that this will add this as soon as I can find how to that.

Thanks a lot.
I will be waiting for that feature hopefully in the next version.

Hello,
The option to modify the zoom has been implemented and will be available in version 2021.1.4.0.
You'll be able to set the zoom in the context menu of embedded/undocked sessions just like external does.
There'll also be an option in the settings to set this in advance for embedded/undocked sessions, but unfortunately it is not supported for external.

Hello Jonathan,
I'm also desperately in need of this option. Do you know when 2021.1.4.0 will be released? Will this be available for the free version, also?
Hello Robert,
Our expected dates are February 15 for the beta, and March 9 for the full release.
And yes this feature will also be available in the free version.

Nice, thank you for the update.
Hello
I just tested on the new version 2021.1.11.0
It works. Thanks!!
I have a question though.
When I connect using the configuration bellow on embedded mode, I get a dpi scaling of 150% on the RDP connection.
Where does this value of 150% cames from ? (my PC as a configuration of 175%)
I had to disable RDP scale factor (HDPI) in the RDM options (In File -> Options -> Types -> RDP -> Disable RDP scale factor (HDPI)).
In order to connect using the 96dpi (100% scale)
Cheers
Hello,
We are currently forcing a 150% scaling on the RDP client when the PC is set to 175%. This was probably due to a limitation at the time, but it looks supported now. We'll take a closer look and come back to you as soon as we have more details.

I worked on this today with one of our users who has a Surface.
I changed the zoom to 200% then I cut the resolution in half!
This worked perfectly, except the mouse pointer is now small in the RDP session. It's still usable, but it would nice if it was the same size.
I tried this trick using the built-in RDC, and the mouse pointer is still small. So it appears it's an RDP issue.
Hopefully, Devolutions can add an option for making the mouse pointer larger.
Hello The Ghost,
One of my colleagues from the engineering team has let me know that we do not have the possibility to resize the cursor unfortunately. That being said, they recommended trying to change your RDP version for FreeRDP, in case this different engine yields different results.
Best regards,
Gabriel Degrandpré
Hello Pedro,
I can confirm that the scaling limitations are now gone, and a lot more values are supported by the RDP activeX. We made the change, and it will be included in version 2021.1.16.
On the other hand, if you indeed want to open the session in 100% scale, while still using a 175% setting on your pc, you'll have to keep the RDP scale factor disabled.

Hi Pedro,
Will this update also fix the small mouse pointer when using DPI mode?
Thanks!
Hello Allen,
Please refer to the answer Gabriel gave you above. He mentioned that there is unfortunately no way for us to change this behavior, since it's an issue with the RDP ActiveX.
That being said, you could try switching to FreeRDP, which has a chance to solve your issue.
