Hi,
Is it possible to exclude empty groups when searching/filtering?
We're using a default group template for all customers, and keep the empty groups because they have default permissions set.
Attached files show example of a searching a customer name, and the filter setting which must be set to enabled all subgroups to be expanded when searching only the customer name.

Hi,
What RDM version do you use? I remember a bug similar to this.

Hey David,
I guess you mean this one

Hi David
Version 13.6.7.0
It is similar but not exactly the same.
A different explanation, please see attached.
1. I search "Customer 1"
2. Customer 1 root folder is found
3. All empty sub folders of Customer 1 is shown.
We would like the option to not include empty sub folders when searching.

Hi,
Is this setting already possible, or is it accepted as a feature request?
- Martin
I will ask our QA to test this but in RDM 14 it should already be this way.

Hi David,
Thank you. We'll try to upgrade asap and report back.

Hi David,
We just upgraded to 14.0.6.0, and the empty folders are still showing up when filtering.
Could it be because we have a different configuration, and if so which setting should we set?
- Martin
Alex, one of our QA, was able to reproduce this with some specific settings. I will ask him to you.

Hi again,
Please see attached example screenshot.
Here I am filtering for 'exch', and the results are:
1. The two sessions I'm looking for (Exchange Online and Exch2010).
2. Empty 'EXCH' groups for the same customer
Could the empty groups also be excluded with an option?
Again - I've attached my filter options.
Explanation for why we have these empty folders:
An important part of our policies are security and access control.
To easier control our many permissions we've created a default schema (template) for every customer.
A role could be "Exchange access", which grants a user view access to all customers Exchange servers.
Please let us know if you have any ideas to improve this, so you don't have to improve the filter options.

Hello,
After discussion with the engineering team, we will add a new options in the filter called *Show empty Folders*. This will be enabled by default so unchecking it will be required to solve your situation.
Best regards,
Alexandre Roy
Hi Alexandre,
That's great, thank you for this!
We'll be looking forward to the update.

Hi again,
Is this improvement part of the 14.1.0.0, december 12th update?
I can see the release notes are:

Hello Martin,
This is still on our TODO list. We will keep you updated on the progress.

Michaël Beaudin
Hello Martin,
This feature has been completed internally and should be available starting from RDM's January release.
A new option called "Include Empty Folders" will be added to the "Search Options". This option is activated by default and disabling it should result in your requested behavior.

Michaël Beaudin
