Version 12.6.8.0 ignores version management settings on launch

avatar

I am currently testing the upgrade of our RDM clients from version 12.6.8.0 to the latest (14.0.6.0 as of writing).

I am facing an issue with the version management settings of the data source - even if the minimal version is set to 14.0.6.0, I can launch a version 12.6.8.0 client without being forced to upgrade upon connecting to the data source. However, if I delete and then re-add the data source, I receive the minimal version message and the upgrade starts. In our previous version of the client this would happen upon launch.

Is this expected behavior?

Hello,
This is not the expected behaviour. I will ask our QA to verify what could be the problem but if it's a bug in the old version, it won't be easy to fix.

I may have found a solution by pure chance. I ran the pack data source (optimize) function on the data source, and after doing so the version management settings seem to work as expected. I've tried several clean installs of the program to no avail (even starting over with a new copy of our production database used for testing), but apparently all I had to do was optimize the data source.

It's a good information to know. I will investigate.

Hello,
Do you have any updates on this?

I was unable to find the root of the issue. Do you have anything in the Application Logs located in the ribbon Help?

I'm afraid there's nothing useful in the application logs - the latest messages are all something like the following:

Upgrading database for data source '<data source>' with version 441

But from what I understand, it's now working after the pack data source?

Yes, packing the data source after the upgrade apparently fixes the issue.
