RDM Opts > Security > Use Win Creds = Not Working in AD

When you have a windows PC setup with other various authentication technologies, such as a PIN mode, RDM is unable to "process" logging into the application itself using windows credentials. There is no option to use whatever login feature your PC is setup for. Sometimes these various "security" features will be pushed down from your AD admin when your Win 10 PC is connected to a work/school account.

I don' think this is just an issue with y'all, as I've seen this with various other programs requiring authentication via that same network dialog. Perhaps there are different flavors of that API you can call? Surprisingly, I see this same issue when attempting to authenticate for a RDP or a network share to this PC from another one on the local LAN. The client just doesn't know how to handle a situation where PIN mode is enabled. I've only had success in the past by just disabling it completely. Although other users that are under a strict AD, several hierarchies down, may not be able to do this so easily.

Anyone able to shed some light?

Hello Hector,

I never worked with PIN mode on computers before but could you change the Display mode in the session in RDM. If you could change it for External, I would like to know if it's working properly because the external mode use mstsc.exe directly of your computer.

Also, could you inform us which version of RDM are you currently running?

Best regards,

@David,

I am referring to the settings of RDM itself, not an RDP session. See the attached screenshot. This is an authentication configuration that happens at program start.

Also, you can see the other screenshot for what I am referring to as far as "PIN Mode". I think all of the sign in options fall in under "Windows Hello", or something like that.

Also,

RDM Version: 14.0.6.0
Most recent I believe.

Windows Hello is only available for the UWP application. UWP applications are very limited. There is some blogs talking about the possible availability of this with WPF and Winform applications. We have the same problem with the integration of Edge.
