Pushing RDM updates (GPO, LanDesk, Other...)

Pushing RDM updates (GPO, LanDesk, Other...)

avatar

I'm guessing this question has been asked before.

Is this something that is supported for pushing RDM updates for our enterprise users? Updating the software requires domain admin credentials in our environment so oftentimes the client is out of date. We use LanDesk (Ivanti) but GPO is also an option. Possible PDQ deploy.

Thanks!

Hello,

What are you trying to accomplish exactly?

You would like us to recommend how you should deploy RDM on your network?

we might have 50 users on our network running RDM client

I am wondering if I can centrally push updates to the client (vs the client prompting that an update is needed etc).

Hello,

Firstly, you can disable the Update prompt by using our policies
https://help.remotedesktopmanager.com/how_to_modify_the_group_policy.htm

Secondly, I would recommend managing the RDM version on your network via the Data Source Settings.
In Administration -> Data Source Settings -> Version Management, it would be possible for you to configure which version your users should you and provide the download link (like an internal network path) where they can get the executable of RDM they need to installed.

In conclusion, this should allow you to deploy RDM properly on your users computers.

OK i will look at those things, thank you.

My challenge is that running an exe locally for an end user requires elevated permissions so I don't have any way right now to update without one of the sysadmins or help desk people entering those credentials for them.

Hello,

In that case, how do you deploy softwares in your organization? Are you using a platform like SCCM as example?

Hello,

With the information that I provided above, it should be possible for you to block the update to your end users and then, use your LanDesk tool to deploy RDM on your workstations.
