Remote Desktop Manager disappears (A new guard page for the stack cannot be created)
We use Remote Desktop Manager (13.6.1.0) on a number of Windows 2012 R2 terminal servers for our admins. From time to time all users on one server report (including me) that their Remote Desktop Manager just "disappeared" without any apparent error message.
Windows application log generates an info: "Application popup: Remote Desktop Manager [Dashboard]: RemoteDesktopManager.exe - System Error : A new guard page for the stack cannot be created." (One message per user, all within 20 seconds.)
Is this something you already heard of? What can I do?
Thanks for your help!
Hi Daniel,
After some google search I think this issue is coming from a "Out of memory" issue with Remote Desktop Manager.
Base on this, I will start the diagnostic by asking you:
- Are you using the 64 bit version of RDM. If not the executable is located at the same path as the 32 bit version but the name is remotedesktopmanager64.exe
- How many RAM does the server have and how many user are connected and use RDM on it ?
- When the issue appear what is the memory used by RDM, you can send us printscreen at ticket@devolutions.net
Best regards,

This server is deployed with 32GB RAM. According to our monitoring system, memory was at 41% when it happened, 8 admins were logged in and 7 used RDM. We are using the 32bit-version.
I can't make a print screen of RDM's memory consumption as the process is gone by then. But usually we're between 200M and 1G of mem per process.
I will now replace all shortcuts so the admins use the 64-bit version.
Thanks,
The 64 bits version will help a lot and probably solve the issue.

We switched to 64-bit RDM 11 days ago. I just checked with a few colleagues and no-one encountered the issue since then. I checked as well if these Eventviewer-entries appeared again and it seems that they are gone too. So I think 64-bit did the trick. Thanks for your help.
