Hi there,
Does RDM support multiple connections to the same host using the same account? I'm not necessarily talking about RDP connections either.
Radmin supports multiple connections and the way it works is that you install the Radmin client app on the PCs that you want to remote from. Then, they all use a console type connection to remote onto the server using the same account. They all see the exact same screen shown on the server.

By the way, while researching this for RDM, I came across this:
https://help.remotedesktopmanager.com/index.html?tipsandtricks_multipleconnections.htm
Is there an example of how this works? I don't quite understand what it's meant to do.

Hello,
Could you go in File -> Options -> General and for the option Allow multiple connections select True.
I think this is the option that you are looking for.
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
That's exactly what I asked about in my original post. That doesn't really tell me much though.
Also, in that link I posted, it says this:
"Allow open multiple connections will be enabled if the option Allow multiple connections (Default) is checked in"
I haven't touched that option, so it will be using the Default, which means it is already allowing multiple connections.
Still, I don't know what this does. Does it just mean you can connect to the same host using multiple accounts? In that case, it's not what I asked about.

Hello,
Hummm, the link was not working for me when I read your first post, but it is now working.
Indeed, we recommend leaving this option to Default inside your remote connections and just enable the feature like I suggest in my first post.
This will allow you to open multiple connections on the same host using the same credentials.
Sorry for the confusion.

Jeff Dagenais
If I open multiple connections to the same host using the same credentials, the previous connection just gets disconnected...

Hello,
What type of connection are you trying to open?

RDP connection. Tried using console mode as well.
I need something similar to the multi-connection feature to Radmin using the same creds. Essentially, we have a few wall-mounted monitors/TVs and we want to access a VM, which is configured to display dashboards from Nagios, etc.

If it's RDP, RDP is the problem. You need to have Terminal Services on the destination host.

The destination host IS using terminal services / Citrix. What I meant was, I'm using a RDP connection entry from the client side to remote onto the server.
I'm not aware that you can use the same creds for a RDP connection, regardless if the server is running TS or not.

Does it work with mstsc? I'm pretty sure it's not RDM the problem.

I think we're all getting confused here....
My understanding regarding Terminal Services / RDS is that it allows multiple users to connect to the server. E.g. you could have 10 different users RDP to the same server. However, I have never heard of the possibility to use the same account (e.g. contoso\userA) to connect to the same server multiple times. If you connect to the server under contoso\userA and you make another connection to the same server using the same account, then the first RDP session will disconnect.
With that said, what exactly does this do:
With RADMIN, you can use a single account to connect to the server. Once connected, you can then share that single RDP connection with multiple users. They will NOT need to RDP to the server. They simply view what you are viewing.
And I'm just wondering if RDM supports something like this? I'd rather have one good client that can do everything, than to use several apps.

RDM is just the manager around existing technologies. This means that it does not replace Radmin or Team Viewer directly. What you are looking for is Wayk which is our own protocol. For now it does not do what you want but eventually it might support that. Wayk is directly integrated in RDM since it's our own library.

Hi David,
That's fine, but what does this do exactly?
MSTSC doesn't allow you to connect to the same server using the same account multiple times. Your initial session will just get disconnected by the second session. So what does this RDM feature do then?

This is a generic setting and sometime the entry contains a variable like the computer name or the username. Also with SSH, it's possible to open multiple connections. This is why it's not enabled by default since it does not work all the time.
