RDM Free Note/Secure Note - Switching between HTML and Plain Text erases information

avatar

I'm using RDM Free 4.6.0.0

When I create a note in HTML and then click on Plain Text (and vice versa, when I am in Plain Text and change to HTML) the content disappears.

Is there a way to force one or the other in a preference so it's not easy to accidentally wipe out what you just wrote? or perhaps a way to have a dialogue box say "Hey, stupid, this is going to wipe out what you just wrote! Cancel / OK"

And, yes, I do realize clicking back brings back the content, but if flying mouse has already hit the OK button there doesn't appear to be a recovery method! :)
Thanks!

I think the bigger solution for this may be in the Enterprise version with:

Version trackingKeeps track of all modifications, allowing you to view the change history and easily roll back any unwanted change or deletion.[/table]Even for a single user, this might be well worth the cost.

Can you clarify the extent of the version tracking? Some examples:

1. Create Secure Note, Delete Secure Note by accident -- can version tracking help undelete?
2. Modify Secure Note once, Modify Secure Note a second time, Modify Secure Note a third time -- can I go back to *any* of the previous versions?

In keeping with my questions, I am responding so others can find this if they are searching for it. This isn't about version tracking but it is about a poor-man's method (free version)

The online backup (cloud) provided by Devolutions for RDM (free) is absolutely amazing...each backup appears to be stored historically and it looks like any version can be restored and you can add notes...Super impressed, guys...Thanks!

Loving my experience so far...

Hello,

It's possible for you to restore entries that you have deleted by mistake by going in the Administration -> Deleted Entries menu.

It's also possible to revert back to a previous version of a session by doing a right-click -> View -> Entry History.

Please note that both features above are available in the Enterprise Edition of RDM.

Best regards,
