Usage experience - Improvement suggestions!

First of all I would like to mention that I really like this program, it has some real potential.
I've been testing the newest version with single user license. I am planning using this software at my workplace(will of course get a site license by then), but I would like to mention some things I noticed I thougt where missing regarding Enterprise rolout/usage. Here we go :0)

1: In the configuration file where the databases paths are written(in the program "File name") I would like to use the variable %APPDATA% in the path to point to the database. As it is now, the path is read just as typed(raw). Would be really nice if this was possible.

2: If you are serious about this Enterprise Edition, It would be really important(especially in a professional working env.) to have user access management/privileges. So one can control who has access to which entries/groups and control if the user can read/write, create ect.
Possibility to choose to encrypt the database so one could not just copy the database elsewhere and read the data straight from the .mdb file.

3: I really like the "Comment" field where one could mention specific things to take notice of in that specific server. We(network department guys) all wrote down a lot of info into the comment box, things like what services/programs[Windows 2008, DNS, AD, DHCP, Exchange 2007 SQL 2005, Backup Exec, Symantec Antivirus and so forth] the specific server is running.
Would be nice if all this information could be entered in a Tab for it self, thereby freeing up the comment box for more relevant/important general comments regarding the specific server.

4: I can see that you have a lot of support for using LogMeIn, RealVNC, TightVNC, UltraVNC ect. and that is great[here comes the but again :) ], but it would be really great if I could choose to save a telnet/ssh session. There are usual a lot of routers, switches and other telnet/ssh enabled devices on the networks today.
When adding these devices it would of course be really important to be able to write down information regarding the specific device, hence the Tab feature above, but just tweaked for input/information regarding routers, switches and so forth.

5: Yes I'm still asking for more :)
These days VPN is a must in most professional environments to be able to connect to the customer's network, before one can use RDP to take control of any device inside the client network. I see that you have implemented some kind of Microsoft VPN!
We work mostly with Cisco VPN devices, therefor using the "Cisco VPN Client". I know that the client supports(when installed) being controlled from commands being sent to a specific exe file in the Cisco client install folder.
What I am asking is, being able to configure a RDP connection to call/activate the Cisco VPN Client before connecting to the IP/hostname of the RDP connection.
The connection files (.pcf) could be stored at a central location if possible.
The Cisco VPN Client(the profiles them self) are unable to store passwords(if required), but if one could choose to type/store the password in your program, then you could just pass it along as a parameter when calling the Cisco VPN client!

I know that I'm asking for a lot! I just feel that this program has some real potential :)

I would like to say honestly, even if you are unable to implement these changes/functions, I would still acquire the Site license at a later point :0)
But these changes would just bring this program up to another league.
Looking forward to what you think about all this ;0)

Best regards,

Hi David!
In addiction to things we talked about (SSH and FTP support)
I want to suggest the possibility to made "cut&paste" from the comment area.
At the moment I think is not possible to do cut and paste from commet area, and sometimes we write user and pswd on this area....

:-D

Hi Pico,
this is already possible, there is an option to enable Cut and paste:

Enable selection in description

I hope this help

Some usefull FEATURES (for me, of course)

1. Proxy (SOCKS) Support for (all kind of) connections. User can choose if a connection can be "proxyfied" or not, maybe selecting the proxy server from a predefined list
2. VMware connection manager (in order to store user and pswrd of VMWare servers)
3. Possibility to manage SSH/FTP connection natively (like WinSCP) and not only to call stored session on putty
