Hi,
I am using Remote Desktop Manager Free v4.5.3.0 on Windows 10.
When connected to servers via SSH, upon error or disconnect (incl. server shutdown), the session/tab automatically closes.
This makes it impossible to trace or look back on previous commands.
I have configured the following:
I noticed it works only for RDP but not SSH. Is this a limitation, a bug or some configuration issue on my side?
For your kind advice.

Hello,
What type of SSH SHell session are you using?
If it's our own SSH Shell session type (https://help.remotedesktopmanager.com/sessions_sshshell.htm), I would suggest trying to uncheck the Close on disconnect or error option in the Advanced tab.

Hi Jeff,
Thank you for the quick reply!
Yes, I'm using 'SSH Shell' session type.
I have tried your suggestion. Didn't work when the session was active.
But restarted the program, reconnected the session, disconnect again and the tab will remain with 'disconnected' in the tab name.
I wish to expand the question further:

Hello,
I suspect that this is a legacy setting and it was not ported to the new and generic settings. I will assign this to one of our dev to rework it including the default value.

Okie thanks!
Hello,
I am unable to reproduce the issue, what would be the OS of the machine you are connecting to remotely using SSH?

Hi, I am using Windows 10 Enterprise 1710.
Hello again!
I'm sorry if I wasn't clear enough, I meant the OS of the machine you are trying to access, not the one you are currently using to connect to it.
Best regards,
Alexandre Roy
I was connecting to an OS with RHEL 7.x with the default SSHD.
hello,
Unchecking "Close on disconnect or error" leave me with the tab saying "disconnected" too.
I am able to see the last commands entered. From there I can just right click the tab and click reconnect.
But yes you are right it does not give the same result as RDP, I will talk with the engineering team to see if this is an issue.
I believe Keep tab on disconnect should do what it is meant to do.
If anything this issue makes it possible to trace and look back on previous command, as long as ''Close on disconnect or error'' is unchecked
and could make it a default combobox option so you wouldn't have to set it on every SSH entry.
Would this solve your issue ?
Best regards,
Alexandre Roy

Hey Alexandre,
Yes, the feature 'Close on disconnect or error' is good but I think it will be great if this could be merged with the existing default settings:
Merging would minimize confusion and also hopefully be used for other connection types.
'could make it a default combobox option so you wouldn't have to set it on every SSH entry.' -> That would be good but I think its a temporary workaround esp if there is a possbility of merging it with the existing settings instead :)

Hello,
I had a quick chat with our engineering department and an option call "Disconnect Action" will be added into the SSH Shell session type as well as in File -> Options -> Types -> Terminal.
This is not present in RDM 13.5.11.0. This should be available in the next release of RDM.
