Templates - Default settings

avatar

Hi,
I've changed several default settings for the session templates ssh shell and rdp on my PC.
When another user starts RDM on his PC, he doesn't see those changed default settings.
How can I change default session template sessions, so that everyone receives those settings?

Hello,
For now the default settings are only saved locally. It's saved in %localappdata%\devolutions\remoteDesktopmanager\Templates\DefaultTypes

The recommended solution to shared the default setting is to use the template feature instead.

What do you mean with Template Feature?

In my case i need the default setting Credentials: Inherited for all new folders.
If i creat a Template i always get asked if i want to chose the rigt or wrong(default) template. When i right click an chose Add > Add Group/Folder i get the wrong template.

Hi Thomas,

if you create a Folder Template with your required settings, you can use it like this way: Right click => Add => Add from Template - Now you should see your previous created folder template with the specified settings.

(If you save it as database template, it is usable for all users.)

The Default Settings for the respective types would be stored only in the user settings. This should be applied if you change the folder type for example and add a folder like Right click => Add => Add Folder

I know how i can use the Correct Template. I even know what to change if don't use the correct template.

The goal is that all other Users have "Credentials: Inherited" Setting when they create a new folder.

Hello Thomas,

Min Destens has discovered a bug in RDM with the following scenario;

Now in the tree view;

So, depending on how you create your sessions, you may encounter the bug or not.

I will open a ticket to our engineering department regarding this.

I can't follow you exactly.

But i do not want to use the "Template list only" setting. We are using a lot of other Connection Types. In this case i have to create a Template with default settings for all types of connections.

Hello,

Unfortunately, yes, you would need to create a template for all types of connections.

Hello,
If you use Template List only and RDM does not find any template for the connection, it will use the blank connection template for your type. If it's not the case, it's a bug. This means that you don't need to create an empty template for each connection types if you don't change anything. Sorry for the confusion.
