Question regarding "Automatic Logoff on Disconnect" and "Reconnect" and how they behave together.
Remote Desktop Enterprise: Version 13.0.6.0 64Bit
.NET Runtime: v4.0.30319
I have a few questions regarding these two items and how they interact. I accessed the "Automatic Logoff on Disconnect" from the File --> Options --> Type --> RDP, and I have checked this option.
With this checked, it seems to run the command "shutdown /l" on the machine that the user is disconnecting from, which works for what we want, although I would rather run the "logoff" command, as it doesn't make my heart jump as much as "shutdown" does, when seeing it.
When I have a machine that I have been actively remoted into, and working on something (Active Directory, or IIS, or whatever) and I step away for a minute and it locks (normal). However, the issue is when I attempt to reconnect to the machine, its default actions are to log me off, and then log me back in. This seems to be of poor design as I am essentially closing out all my work, and possibly losing something I have not had a chance to save. Is there a better way to handle this situation?
Also, is there a way to set the "Automatic Logoff on Disconnect" to be a global setting, and not a per user session specific?
Hello,
I will check the to replace the shutdown /l command for the logoff.
About the Reconnect, we have an option (turned off by default) to force a full reconnect. This is in File->Options. I know also that the older RDP version was not supporting the Reconnect command (before RDP 8). Do you know what RDP version is used on the destination machine?

RDP Version on the destination machine really depends on the machine we are connecting too.
I just tested 2 machines, one is 2008 R2 machine (RDP Version 6.0.6002), and the other is a 2016 Server (RDP Version: 10.0.14393).
The disconnect works exactly how we want it, as long as we don't have the "Automatic Logoff on Disconnect" checked. What is the difference between Reconnect, with Auto Logoff checked and unchecked?
More I think about more I think it must be a bug. Let me check this and get back to you.

I think that we send a command when the automatic logoff and this is causing a problem.

Hello,
I have made a fix and this should be in the next minor update.

David, Thank you for that quick turnaround. What will the change be, or what will it do?
I don't follow your update cycles enough to know when the next minor should come, do you have a timeframe?
Also, is there a way to make the auto logoff global, for all users?
thanks,
Brian
Later this week :)
