15-second hang and 100% cpu when disconnecting a RDC session on MSSQL backend
I've seen similar posts, but we're experiencing poor performance on our 13.0.6.0 64-bit instance. We use a remote MS SQL Server for our data source.
When disconnecting from a remote desktop connection, we occasionally (75%+) see a hang and CPU usage jumps to 100%. Same goes for File>Refresh.
Diagnostics:
offline: false (cache - openmcdfv2)
1435 sessions
custom images: 74
rtf notes: 0
These performance issues DO NOT occur when we disconnect from the same sessions when using a Local Data Source (SQLite).
I've read the 13.0.14.0 beta has some performance fixes (disable session 'something') - would those potentially help?
Hello,
Indeed we have added an option in the latest beta version that will help regarding this issue.
Please have a look at this article for more information;

Do you announce release schedules? Any idea when a non-beta version (with this feature) will be released? Or does Devolutions consider beta builds stable enough for production?
We hope to release the final version at the beginning of March. Our current beta version is in a stable state. We are mostly waiting for DVLS 5.0 to release RDM 13.1

Doesn't look like a custom installer is available for anything beyond 13.0.6. Will the release of 13.1 include the ability to create a custom installer?
We will release a custom installer for the office version 13.1.

David Hervieux
Ok great! In the meantime, if we would like to upgrade to a Beta version, but want to carry over the existing config, would we be able to do so? We have leveraged custom installers in the past to push out changes to config and data sources. If we're upgrading version, is the old config maintained?
Hello,
Your RDM configurations are saved in %localappdata%\Devolutions\RemoteDesktopManager in a file named RemoteDesktopManager.cfg.
Please note that there's no database upgrade involved when upgrading from RDM 13.0.6.0 to 13.0.15.0, however, we still recommend doing a backup of the database prior to perform the upgrade.

Jeff Dagenais
Would you expect the Allow entry states (Lock, Running, Checkout) setting to help with these symptoms:
As admin, trying to open the Properties (Edit > Properties) of any session takes >20 seconds to render a window, and the same amount to save (CPU at 100%)
As admin, renaming an entry takes >20 seconds to save (CPU at 100%)
As users, copying credentials of opened sessions from the tabs takes >20 seconds.
...or should we reach out to support?
Any ETA of a proper release with the ability to generate a custom installer?
Could you open the Profiler dialog and check what you see when you click on Properties? JF Could you verify in the database if the table ConnectionState is empty?
Regards
David Hervieux
@Steve Redden,
I have sent you an email from our support mailbox with the steps that you would need to do to verify if the ConnectionStates table is empty or not.
You can post the results here or by replying to my email.
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
Sorry: We're still on 13.0.6.0 - I was hoping to hear if all my symptoms are still related to this one setting, or if there's something else.
As well as find out if we had a solid date for RDM 13.1
I've emailed the results.
On 13.0.6.0, I'm seeing months-old ConnectionState.CreationDate's, and numerous inaccuracies (I only have 4 sessions open yet I have 25 rows associated with my user). How "bad" would it be if I delete from ConnectionState? Are there any application or database dependencies on these rows?
Hello Steve,
I had a quick chat with David and indeed, you can try to delete the rows that you can in the ConnectionStates table to see if in enhance the performance of your database.
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
I deleted the rows in ConnectionState, but it still takes ~20 seconds to disconnect from a session (just click the X to close the embedded tab).
The profiler shows no activity during this disconnect, and my CPU goes to 100%.
Stefane is currently investigating. I will let you know the results.

David Hervieux
Any update on when v13.1 will be available?
The expected release of RDM 13.5 is next week with DVLS 5.0.
